Free Class on Chinese Medicine and the Elements for Vibe Medicine.

Many of my patients have been asking me to teach a clas for lay people on the principles of Chinese Medicine. So, here it is! I will be offering this free class on Sunday Nov 16th at 2pm through Vibe Medicine. You can sign up for the class here!

I am very excited to be joining with a dear friend, Brigid McGivern, who started the non-profit Vibe medicine this year. Vibe’s mission is to bring awareness of energy medicine to people through education and research. Vibe offers free classes on topics like meditation, reiki, and now acupuncture! This will be a 60 min online class where I will speak about the 5 elements of Chinese medicine and how they relate to our interconnected bodies. While I was out on my sunrise walking this week I was contemplating the element of earth. What is is exactly? In Chinese medicine we talk about the Earth element as it relates to the Spleen or the digestive system. This is the source of everything in our bodies because it breaks down our food and turns it into nutrients that our bodies need. If that doesn’t happen, we don’t get the vitamins and fats that our organs need to be healthy, to regenerate skin, nails, hair. We also make blood from this process which we need to enliven our brains and be able to recall words and imagines when we need to.

The Earth element, in nature, is all that we see around us when we step onto a sunrise beach. It is the ground we walk on in a wooded forest. How do you feel when you walk on that beach and in that forest? You feel held. As I approached this vast lake view with the sun rising and pink streaks of cotton candy colored light filled the sky, the waves crested on the rocks near my feet, the trees stood in their glorious reds and yellows, I felt held. I felt held like an infant feels held by their mother. We all want to be held and NEED to be held in some way. For those of use who are aging and starting to lose our parents, we can find that feeling of being held when we step out into nature. There is something about the vastness of the view, the power and strength of the water, wind, ground and trees that allows us to feel small and finally, held.

If you want to learn more about these elements and our bodies, hearts and minds, come check out our free class! See you there.
